I am searching for a Jane Shillitoe, who is somehow related to my granduncle
George Edward Shillitoe Jackson and great great grandfather George Henry
Shillitoe Jackson. She was born in Armley in 1853 to Anne and Thomas Shillitoe
1832 of Methley. She appears to have raised George and several children who may
be other siblings in the family.

Huge thankyou to the Shillito FHS and the detailed transcriptions of Parish
records etc. I have just carried out some further family research with the help
of the transcriptions for Campsall parish registers and have managed to build up
a picture of my Shillitoe Ancestors going back to the early 1700's. I am a
direct descendant of Robert Shillitoe of Ladythorpe, Fenwick (near Askern) who
married Anne Atkinson in 1735 at Campsall, through their son John, born 1736
(married Hannah Goostrey 1758), his son Thomas born 1774 (married Anne
Challenger) and Thomas's son Henry born 1817 at Askern (married Elizabeth
Bedford abt1840 who died 1841, and Hannah Hanks abt 1845). The Ladythorpe
Shillitoes were farmers in the area for well over a hundred years. Henry broke
the mould and moved to Doncaster where he was a publican at The Horse & Jockey,
St Sepulchregate, Doncaster for over 20 years but returned to farming in the
latter years of his life. Happy to share info with anyone interested in this
branch of the Shillitoes and would love to hear from anyone with
Shillito(e)connections in this area.

My mother was born a Shillito, in Witham, Essex in 1927. Her father
[Frank?] Shillito died two years later as a result of gas exposure in WW1.
Her mother (an Thorogood) re-married (an Edgington) and seems to have cut off
her past. My mother knows that her father was one of nine children; her
father was born in Eton Place, Square or Terrace London; he was a pianist of
some ability; there was a brewing interest and money at some time, but that was
lost! All records are lost and my mother's memory is fading. Any
leads?

I am looking for any clues about Sidney Sarah Shillito. She was supposidly
born 25 September 1843 in London, Surrey, England, but we can find no record of
her birth in any of the civil registration records. Her mother was Mary.
We do not know if Shillito was Mary's maiden name, or the sirname of her unknown
father. Sidney was in the Sheffield area in 1863 before she came to the
United States. She is associated somehow with the family of Kilburn & Ann
Shillito Hall. Ann Shillito Hall is a daughter of James & Anna, from
Rotherham. I welcome any ideas or information. We have hit a brick
wall with the research on this family.

I am researching my grandfather's,whose name is John Ewart Shillito. He was born
October 18,1893,in Halifax, Yorkshire, England. He passed away four years before
I was born (October 24,1977),due to an illness. He is my father's father. And, I
believe he is buried some where in Sydney, because after he married my
grandmother,Eva Shillito (July 22,192?),he came back to Sydney with her to raise
their family. But,the sad thing is, I never saw or even met John Ewart
Shillito, and I hardly ever know him at all. So,I 'd like to do more research on
him,John Ewart Shillito (1893-January 16,1974).He married Eva in Cyprus,on 3 May

When I first started researching my family tree I had no idea what I would be in
for. One would think with a fairly uncommon name of Shillitoe, that it would be
relatively easy. Alas. I have come to know that there are so many spelling
variations of the name and even within the same family line. I am therefore
having a hell of a time tracing an ancestor who moved from the UK to Australia,
probably between 1800-1860. His name apparently was Henry or Harry Shellitoe/Shillitoe.
His father was George Shillitoe(as listed on Harry's death certificate). I can
only surmise that it was George, wife(?)and child Harry that emigrated out here.
I have been told that the spelling of the surname changed from Shellitoe to
Shillitoe sometime in between. I am hoping that someone can help me. Thank you.

My farther is Ronald Shillito b. 1933 and we live in Almondbury, Huddersfield,

Was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Shillito family in the Newcastle
area. My grandfather is John Shillito who is originally from Ireland, and there
are a whole bunch of us in the North east. I myself am currently living in
Oxford but do go back up there occasionally! feel free to get in touch!

I descend from the marriage of Mary Shilliton and John Swift. Their daughter
Mary (bapt. Thornhill 1682) married Robert Tweedale at Woodsome, Kirkheaton,
1705. Would like to contact other descendants.

I am descended from Caroline Shillito who was born in Swanscombe Kent in the
1820's. She is believed to have been one of many children of Francis Shillito
and his wife Sarah Wells. Francis and Sarah were married in May 1806 in St
Nicholas Deptford London. I cannot find any children born between 1806 and about
1813. Their last child was born in 1828. Francis Shillito died in Rainham Essex
in 1858. He had been living apparently with his daughter Caroline who was
married to James Vinton. Love to hear from any descendents of siblings of
Caroline Shillito.

I am looking into ths family history of the branch situated in the Church and
Castle Gresley areas of South Derbyshire for most of this century. A large
number of the family were involved in mining as this was the main industry in
the area. It appears they also had links with the Sheffield area

Still trying to find Sarah Ann Shillitoe married to George
Follows in Southwark Registry Office March 1847. Her father named as Thomas
Shillitoe, plumber. Is there a connection with John Shillitoe listed as plumber
in Great Tower Street, EC3 in 1794? Cannot find birth for her or birth/marriage
for father.
